Pinch Me, I'm Dreaming

Many of you probably know that we have been struggling with Brayden sleeping on his own and through the night. We've tried everything....warm bath, stories, rocking, crying (he usually pukes), a natural remedy to help him relax, chiropractic adjustments...you name it! We've resorted to a mattress on the floor in his room so that I can sleep in there with him. The past week or so, when we are putting him to bed, he is very restless and can't seem to get comfortable in our arms. We laid him down and he thought we should start playing...we would get frustrated and eventually leave his room and shut the door. And to our amazement, he has fallen asleep on his own....without crying! This past Sunday, we decided to see if he would make it through the night on his own. I FINALLY was able to sleep in my own bed again and not have to listen to screaming and crying. He slept all night and we didn't hear a peep from him until between 6:30-7am. We are in shock....it's like we have a new baby....we are scared to be too excited about it as we know it could easily go back to how it was but it's so nice to know that he CAN fall asleep on his own and sleep all night without waking up. I'm really not sure what we've changed in our routine to see this change in him....but we are LOVING it! His naps are better, he's in a better mood and overall, seems happier....and so are we - it's amazing what a good night sleep will do for a person and for a family!
